PINEAPPLE

Tropical Delight In Pineapple

Welcome to the sweet and tangy world of pineapples—a tropical fruit loved for its refreshing taste and vibrant golden flesh. Originating from South America, pineapples have become a global favorite, cherished for both their flavor and nutritional benefits.

Pineapple farming

While most of our Gold pineapples are grown on our own farm in Costa Rica, we also partner with our favourite growers in Costa Rica, Panama and Ecuador to provide a consistent year-round supply. Wherever the farm, our commitment is that our Gold Pineapples are always of great quality

How to grow Pineapples

The most common method is to plant the pineapple crown (called the ‘seed’) in a bed of well-prepared soil. Each seed only produces a single pineapple and to ensure quality, the plants get constant pampering from our expert growers. They also need the right conditions – they like it warm, but don’t like strong sunlight; they need rain but not too much. The ideal temperature is between 18 and 32 degrees. It takes 13-14 months before the fruit is ready for harvesting.

Processing Pinapples

Pineapples are carefully packed and shipped by sea under temperature controlled conditions so that they reach their market in the best possible condition. This can take up to 14 days. In store, they may look a bit green on the outside but will be gloriously ripe and succulent inside!

NUTRITIONAL BENEFITS

Pineapples are not only delicious but also offer a variety of nutritional benefits.

  • Rich in Vitamin C: Pineapples are an excellent source of vitamin C, which supports immune health, promotes skin health, and acts as a powerful antioxidant.
  • Aids Digestion: Pineapples contain bromelain, an enzyme that helps break down proteins and aids in digestion, reducing bloating and promoting gut health.
  • Supports Bone Health: Pineapples provide manganese, a mineral essential for bone formation, growth, and overall bone health.
  • Anti-Inflammatory Properties: The bromelain in pineapples has anti-inflammatory properties, which can help reduce inflammation and alleviate symptoms of conditions like arthritis.
  • Hydration and Low Calorie: With their high water content, pineapples help keep you hydrated, and they are low in calories, making them a great addition to a healthy, balanced diet.

Incorporating pineapples into your diet can provide these nutritional benefits while adding a sweet and tangy flavor to your meals and snacks.
